The Faculty of Law at AlShaab University held a workshop entitled “The Impact of E-Government on Public Facilities” in which managing state institutions and public facilities and how to provide services to citizens in a modern and efficient manner was discussed.
The workshop was presented in the central meeting room by Ms. Layan Hazem Saeed, a faculty member in the College of Law. She talked about the nature and importance of e-government, and its primary goals, which are to increase the efficiency of the administration and reach a high level of accuracy and speed. This will save money and time, as well as decrease errors and, most importantly, reduce administrative and financial corruption through the transparency electronic systems provide.
The researcher also summarized, through a graphic chart on the display screen, the results of applying the electronic portal as part of the E-Government. Citizens complete transactions faster and more accurately with greater transparency and less paper consumption, and productivity is higher among state employees. In her concluding remarks, Ms. Layan noted that the procedures are easier, and this is what citizens have been hoping for since computers and the internet first entered Iraq. She concluded with a recommendation to take advantage of the existing electronic development, as well as to invest in university research, particularly within specialized departments, such as those at AlShaab University. Departmental research provides the state and its institutions, as well as the private sector, with academic and practical research to meet their needs.
