AlShaab University, in partnership with Al Janoob Islamic Bank, opened accounts for students within the financial inclusion plan launched by the Central Bank of Iraq, as a step towards achieving the digital transformation goals set forth by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq.
After the meeting with the Al Janoob Islamic Bank team, the entity that issues the visa card, the university proceeded to register the students’ data in the central meeting room. Financial accounts will be opened for students in order to facilitate digital transactions, including making tuition payments and granting education loans for those who meet the requirements.
During his meeting with student representatives and a number of department representatives at the university, Dr. Youssef Khalaf also noted the availability of ATM machines on campus to facilitate the process of making cash withdrawals with Visa debit cards.
The University's goal is to become cashless by the end of the year, God willing. This is one of many steps in the digital transformation of AlShaab as it seeks to become the first university in Iraq to provide knowledge and services digitally.
