In alignment with the university's vision and to further its educational philosophy of "Skills and Education," AlShaab University is committed to developing and enhancing the personal skills of its students. On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, the university inaugurated the "Skills Kitchen" in Room 36 of Building C at the university campus. The event was attended by faculty members, students, and administrative and technical staff.
The opening session featured a specialized workshop titled "Direct Communication Skills and Public Speaking Techniques," led by Prof. Dr. Yousif Al-Dunainawi, President of AlShaab University. In his presentation, he emphasized the workshop's primary goal: equipping students with the knowledge and techniques necessary to improve their communication skills and overcome the challenges they may face when speaking to large audiences. He stressed the importance of enhancing students' abilities in effective communication and public speaking, noting that direct communication skills are among the most valuable tools individuals can possess in various life domains.
The workshop covered the meaning and concept of effective communication, its types, and its fundamental elements. It also highlighted effective strategies for capturing the audience's attention and conveying messages clearly and persuasively. Additionally, techniques for managing stress and anxiety associated with public speaking were discussed, supported by real-life examples and video excerpts from well-known figures and experts proficient in public communication.
The workshop also included assessments for participants, focusing on identifying strengths and weaknesses in their personal communication skills, and an electronic poll on the types of skills they wish to develop.
The session saw significant interaction from the attendees, whose questions and inquiries enriched the workshop with valuable insights.
Participants in the personal skills development course will receive skills certificates from the Continuing Education Center at AlShaab University, complementing their academic degrees and enhancing their prospects in the job market.
