The launch of the Iraqi University Debates World Cup at Al Mamoun University College

The Iraqi University Debates World Cup, organized by the International Academy for Leadership and Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, kicked off today, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Al Mamoun University College in Baghdad. The event, themed "The Debater Shapes the Future" saw the participation of AlShaab University and other Iraqi universities. The participating universities competed for top positions in the initial qualifiers of the World Cup, which are conducted in rounds where teams compete to earn points qualifying them for the second stage of the Iraqi University Debates World Cup qualifiers.During the competition rounds, the focus was on three main aspects: the use of the English language as a criterion for admission to studies, dividing students into classes based on their academic abilities, and withdrawing child laborers from their families. It's worth noting that the Iraqi University Debates World Cup is the first of its kind in Iraq, involving more than seventy Iraqi universities from various provinces. The team that secures the first position in the final qualifiers will qualify to participate in the international competitions held in Qatar.
