AlShaab University, in cooperation with the Al Janoob Islamic Bank for Investment and Financing, organized an extensive workshop on the various banking services available to consumers on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. In attendance were a number of faculty, staff, and students.
The workshop was run by Mr. Abdul Raouf Halawa, Deputy Managing Director of the bank, and Mrs. Sarah Tariq, Director of the Awareness Department at Al Janoob Islamic Bank.
Before the start of the workshop, Dr. Youssef Khalaf, President of AlShaab University, delivered a speech in which he emphasized that the workshop was aligned with the University’s goal of being the first digital university. At its founding, the University implemented plans for digital administration of transactional day to day processes, including those performed by the bursar’s office. To encourage and promote electronic payment, AlShaab has reduced tuition fees for students who hold a debit card this year, and explained that this card will serve as the university's ID card next year.
The Deputy Managing Director of Al Janoob Islamic Bank stressed the necessity of cooperation between the Bank and the University in a way that contributes to making AlShaab a leading digital university. He explained that in today’s world, automated and electronic banking services are a necessity in the daily dealings of individuals and all governmental and non-governmental institutions. For this reason, the bank provided and installed an ATM inside the University to facilitate the digitization process within the university.
The Director of Awareness at Al Janoob Islamic Bank gave a brief overview of the bank, the nature of its work, and the services it provides in various sectors. She also outlined the steps to obtain a debit card, and the advantages to its holders, as it gives access to all banking operations that serve individuals and institutions.
Several questions were asked by the attendees, which contributed to enriching the seminar.
