College of Engineering and Information Technology

Department of Engineering and Information Technology

Department Overview

The Telecommunications Engineering department serves as a bridge between various engineering disciplines, such as electrical engineering and electronic engineering. The department continuously strives to provide students with outstanding education that keeps pace with developments and changes in the industry and telecommunications technology.

The study period in the department is four years, during which students take various academic courses closely related to Information Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering. These courses cover a wide range of topics, such as electrical circuits, electronic systems, digital system design, as well as wireless communications, computer networks, artificial intelligence, and various programming languages.

After successfully completing all the academic courses, students are awarded a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering. The department provides several specialized laboratories equipped with the latest technologies that enable students to acquire the necessary practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge in various fields. This is to keep up with the advancements in information technology and communications, and to enhance scientific research. The curriculum of the Telecommunications Engineering department aligns with the latest developments and needs in the telecommunications sector, aiming to provide engineering expertise that meets the requirements of the job market.

The objectives of Department of Communications Engineering

1. Graduating specialized engineers in the field of telecommunications and information technology, capable of critical thinking that ensures problem-solving through advanced standardized methods.

2. Motivating graduates to pursue further academic careers through postgraduate studies or engaging in professional development and continuous learning that leads to individual skill enhancement.

3. Equipping graduates with the ability to bridge the theoretical and practical aspects by effectively communicating and working in a team environment, and demonstrating commitment to professional and ethical standards in the field of telecommunications engineering.

4. Developing the skills of graduates by imparting a variety of skills throughout their educational journey, enabling them to attain leadership roles in government and private sector institutions in service to the community.

The path of the Communication Engineering department

Alshaab's University has designed a technical skills pathway for students of the College of Engineering and Information Technology and its academic departments, which will run parallel to their university studies. There are two important tracks: the first is to provide students with a set of general skills such as English language, computer skills, and communication skills, which fall under the flexible skills track. The specialized skills tracks involve engaging students in courses and workshops that enable them to pass a range of international exams related to networks, communications, and installation and maintenance methods of devices used in various communication technologies.

In addition to the personal skills that the university focuses on developing for all students and across various disciplines, the Telecommunications Engineering department has a distinctive pathway with an applied character. It seeks to bridge the theoretical aspect learned during academic years with the requirements of the job market. This will be achieved by involving students in training courses and workshops delivered by international experts from large specialized global companies in the field of communications. Moreover, students will be prepared to enter the job market directly after equipping them with engineering skills by competent specialists.
