The reception ceremony commenced with the national anthem, followed by a welcoming speech delivered by Professor Prof. Dr Yousif Al-Dunainawi, the President of AlShaab University. In his address, he emphasized that the visit symbolizes a joint commitment towards enhancing education and scientific research, areas in which AlShaab University takes great pride. He highlighted the importance of fostering a sustainable mindset among students and faculty members to create a better future for the upcoming generations. He also underscored the university's endeavor to empower society to address urgent environmental challenges, stating that the Erasmus program serves as a beacon for international cooperation and academic exchange, providing invaluable opportunities for learning and growth. AlShaab University is honored to be part of this advanced program.
Following his speech, Professor Haider Abdul Dahd, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Scientific Affairs, delivered remarks. He stated that AlShaab University provides a distinguished and advanced educational model aimed at building and developing students' capacities through the activation of the university's slogan of skill and education, which it upholds and implements effectively. Despite its relatively short history, AlShaab University has managed to be at the forefront, and he called for the necessity of activating and enhancing academic relations with reputable universities and educational institutions. He also mentioned that the Ministry of Education has adopted several projects aimed at internationalizing the issue of education and building exchange and cooperation relationships with international universities, including German universities, in addition to activating the Erasmus project, which aims to attract foreign students to study in Iraq.
Following these speeches, Mr. Kay, an English language professor at AlShaab University, gave a brief presentation about the university, covering its inception, departments, scientific faculties, classrooms, laboratories, advanced infrastructure, vital facilities, and urban facilities.
Subsequently, Professor Julia, a representative from one of the German universities, delivered a speech in which she highlighted the academic and scientific advantages offered by the Erasmus program to students, professors, and even administrators in public and private universities. She explained that the program is dedicated to capacity building and development, providing scholarships, and serves as a point of communication, cooperation, and mutual exchange between universities. She emphasized that the program aims to elevate higher education and enhance and promote academic experiences. A question and answer session followed regarding the nature and objectives of the program and its importance for private universities.
Finally, shields of the university were distributed to the guests and visitors from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and members of the German academic delegation.
