The event took place at the Central Library Hall in the university building on Monday, April 22, 2024, in the presence of Prof. Dr Yousif Al-Dunainawi, the President of AlShaab University, along with several professors, lecturers, and university students. The seminar commenced with a presentation by Brigadier Khaled Al-Muhanna, the Director of the Department of Relations and Media at the Ministry of Interior, followed by a discussion led by Lawyer Sara Tawfiq. Brigadier Khaled emphasized that internal security and its establishment are shared responsibilities, extending from citizens to security agencies. He stressed the importance of providing citizens with self-awareness and broadening their culture regarding security issues, urging adherence to preventive measures aimed at reducing crimes, incidents, and negative phenomena in society. He also highlighted the role of community policing in narrowing the gap and bridging the divide between citizens and security agencies, contributing to changing citizens' perceptions towards police institutions through community engagement and assistance in various areas. He noted a significant decrease in crime rates in 2023 due to the development and capacity-building efforts of the Ministry of Interior, including the integration of modern technologies, which facilitated a qualitative leap in performance, enhancing the capabilities of security agencies in tracking and detecting crimes promptly.Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior has allocated several hotlines for reporting crimes and suspicious incidents, with plans to unify these hotlines under a single number, 911, to be launched soon, dedicated to serving citizens. The seminar concluded with interactive discussions, questions, and inquiries from attendees, enriching the seminar with valuable insights and information. At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants by the President of AlShaab University.
