Student Activities Department Holds Draw for Football Tournament at AlShaab University Stadium

In the presence of the President of the University, the Director of Sports Activity, and professors from various departments, sports team representatives met in the Presidential Meeting Room to discuss organizational matters related to the tournament that will start Saturday, January 1.

Seventeen teams composed of students from all colleges and departments will compete in the first soccer tournament in AlShaab University’s newly-opened stadium. Dr. Natiq, Director of the Department of Sports Activity, said that the tournament will be single-elimination, meaning that only winning teams advance to the next round.

The Director of the Sports Activity Department also stated that the tournament will begin with three matches per day at twenty minutes per half to limit the students’ time commitment to the participation in the competitive matches.

University President, Dr. Youssef Khalaf, stressed the coordination between the Department of Sports Activity at the University and the departments that have students participating in the tournament so that their matches do not interfere with coursework, lectures, and exams to maintain academic progress during the tournament.
